Most of my friends who have migrated don't bother about tribe or religion. Most of my relatives have married far and wide. My cousins are now an eclectic mix. From half Edo/Yoruba to half Carribean. When @ancestry said I had cousins in Jamaica, I knew exactly how it happened 😂

The civil war did a number on Nigeria. A lot of the tribal angst is still from that era. Economic realities will make people soon realize that it is all dumb.

It is amazing how all of that faux superiority vanished in a generation due to economic hardship. People moved abroad to do unspeakable things just to survive. Genetic and cultural preservation became the last thing on their minds. It is coming to others. Slowly.

There is still only 1% of my genetic material that I share with those outside Nigeria and it made me realize how closed off my ancestors had been.

Even when we conquered other tribes, we hardly intermarried and never gave them our Edo language because we felt superior.
